Assortance
The idea for Assortance came from discussions with Tom Kemp, a CIO for The New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens. In the fall of 2006 we contacted Tom in hopes of providing him with consulting work. Being a start up company and eager to secure business we asked him the status of his projects within the IT department. Tom gave a summary, but the conversation quickly switched to what services he has a demand for although no company was providing this type of service.
One thing that Tom mentioned during the call was that he had a staff member on vacation the previous week and as a result everything got delayed by a week. He went on to say that if we provided a support service then he would have called us and all tasks would have been completed in a timely fashion.
Another issue that Tom faced was unpredictable expenses within the IT department. He has been reluctant to hire consultants in the past due to his inability to accurately predict their cost. Tom mentioned that he would like a service that had a fixed monthly fee which would give him the ability to better control his departments finances.
We realized that there is a large demand for this type of service and designed a business structure that can perform this service efficiently. Since talking to Tom, we have discussed our business concept to various people including other hospital executives and we have received excellent initial reviews. We’re happy to report that we now provide this type of service.
